Trip Update

Yia sas from Santorini Greece! Today is day 12 of our vacation. We spent 10 days without internet in Athens, Cairo and Luxor - a challenge for sure, but also a nice break from the feel of having to check email all the time.

So far so good. I'll have to remember all the stuff we did and write about it later, but here are short highlights:

  • Transit in Athens is great, although the airport line is partially closed which made the trip to/from a hassle.
  • Gyros and souvlakis make an awesome and cheap meal.
  • To our surprise, bottled water is cheap in Greece and Egypt. Less than 1 EUR or 5 LE (Egyptian pounds) for a 1.5 L bottle. We feel bad for not being environmentally friendly, but our stomachs do not want to take the risk with tap water and soda is expensive.
  • Old ruins, gigantic pyramids and ancient symbols are cool. Mummies are creepy.
  • Traffic in Cairo really is 24/7. The concept or following of lanes does not seem to exist here.
  • Camels smell. Donkeys are cute, but they also smell.
  • Harrassing for tips is number one on my list of not-great things about Egypt.
  • My cheeks are pink now.
We'll try to keep you all posted and later on figure out how and when to upload all of our pics. Andio for now!
