Christmas Preparations

First day in town and we're gearing up for Christmas in a week!  We found a butcher that sales fresh turkeys to avoid having to buy it early and defrosting. Never bought a fresh one before. Hoping prepping and cooking is all the same.  The butcher said the shop will be crazy on the 23rd and 24th with hours-long lines out the door! So we're picking it up on the 22nd.

Next stop - fresh Christmas tree! For the first time in their Canadian life, the in-laws will have a real Christmas tree! REALLY!  This blows my mind. Me from a tropical country: real trees. Them in Canada: fake tree. Hehehe. :)  I was super looking forward to coming here and getting a real one from a "U-Cut Tree" place - like apple picking, you walk around the field, pick a tree and cut it up!  At least I think that's what you do... We saw the sign for Christmas trees and thought this was the "U-Cut" place... but after we parked, we saw the trees were already cut. We didn't think much of it, and I thought "well, at least we're still in a field and they are fresh/open, versus getting them at a store where they are wrapped up...". So we found a medium-sized, 5.5-ft tree, packed up the car and started driving home... And that's when we saw what was next door... another shed/stand, with a big field with rows and rows of Christmas trees on the ground, and a sign that said "U-Cut"... AAAARRRGGHHH!!! We went to the wrong place, and there really was a place where you can cut your own! And they had all different sizes ('cause we thought we'd get a smaller one, like 3-4 feet)! *#(%&!@... I was totally bummed out. *SIGH* oh well. Next time!  It was still worth while to get the in-laws their first ever real tree, make the house smell like Christmas, and see the smiles on everyone's face. Decorating will have to wait a few days after we get back from skiing :)

Oh yeah, this tree place had two SUPER cute goats!  What goats have to do with Christmas and Christmas trees, I have no idea. But man, are they cute!
