Vancouver 2009: Part 1

Last weekend, we went to Vancouver for our friend Jeremy's wedding. Tim went home a week before, while I joined on Tuesday. Unfortunately, it was a short trip though it was packed with helping the happy couple with last-minute planning, hanging out with friends, and family lunches/dinners. Here's a recap in pictures.

Wednesday was a long day. For one thing, I woke up at 6:30am from jetlag). And also because it was filled with things that are now very Vancouver to me because we seem to go everytime we are home: dim sum at Jade restaurant, food at Boston Pizza, and dessert at Dairy Queen. Oops, no picture of beef balls, potato-skin pizza or oreo blizzard.

Thursday we had lunch of sushi and tiny tiny crabs. They don't taste like much, but they sure are crunchy.

After lunch, the bride-and-groom-to-be had "Kids' Day" for us young ones to hang out, play games and get to know others. Fun tradition, I wonder who started it :) Their day started with a picnic in the park, bocce ball game in the park and painting in the park. Afterwards, it was burgers for dinner, bowling and frosty/iced-coffee for dessert.
Can you guess which one is mine?

This year, Tim and his friend turn 30 (yikes!). Since a lot of them were in town for the wedding, they all celebrated together. Instead of a BBQ, we had a take-out-que with sushi, greek food and fruit. And a cake the remember their childhood (although one of them has more transformers toys on display at their house that I have ever seen). And yes, more than my brothers.

And of course, there was the wedding on Saturday. It was a beautiful summer day, with a semi-outdoor ceremony in QE Park and a reception at Van Dusen Botanical Gardens. Since it was a morning ceremony and evening reception, they had plenty of time in between to go take pictures and have a well-planned lunch with burgers and fries! The reception was so much fun - dinner was great, music/dancing was happenning, and they had an awesome photo booth with goofy props. Oh, the things that went on in that booth... I should keep my blog PG.
